From the people what brung you IndyMoms.com, comes IndyPaws.com: Central Indiana’s one-stop shop for all your pets’ social networking needs.
I didn’t have a big hand in IndyPaws, just watching from afar and debugging some CSS as co-workers Doug Hineline and Sean Iams banged out the design and backend code, respectively. The backend is pure Ruby on Rails.
Chris Phillips also has some new Rails-based calendaring hotness baked into IndyPaws. He’s also the head implementation guy.
My dog is already a member, and while it takes a little while to get used to posting things in fist-person as my dog (not a requirement, but a social convention … trust me, it becomes less hokey as you do it), a lot of the little touches Sean and Doug worked in really shine.
I like the social-network-required friends list implementation and having all of my dog’s posts show up on the profile page to create a pseudo-blog. Doug’s design is also whimsical beyond belief (especially if you know him …).
IndyPaws is the first of a slew of products/sites we have launching in May (all of which are powered by Ruby on Rails).
